Gita Govinda, a love-lyric by poet Jayadeva of 11thC celebrates the divine love of Radha and Krishna. To Jayadeva, Krishna is Vishnu incarnate and his presence captivates all the souls that yearn for becoming one with him. This delicately rendered landscape in Kangra school of Pahari painting portrays the moment of union (Sambhoga) of Radha with Krishna, the paramatma on the banks of sacred Yamuna river.
